CompTIA Announces 2015 IT Hall Of Fame Inductees

CompTIA recently announced two technology leaders distinct - Scott Cook, founder of Intuit and Sam Palmisano, former CEO of IBM - will be inducted into the Hall of Fame IT. The awards ceremony takes place at the CompTIA States annual meeting March 24 to 26 2015 Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Cook, who was elected to the IT Innovator wing of IT Hall of Fame, is honored for the co-founder of Intuit, a maker of business solutions and financial management for small businesses, consumers and accounting professionals. A former brand and marketing product manager at Procter & Gamble, Intuit Cook founded with the vision to help individuals and small business owners to simplify, automate and organize their finances by using the power of technology.

"Cook is an innovator who realized early in the software should be simple, easy to use and solve a pain point for truly connect with small businesses and consumers," said the IT Hall of Fame selection committee. "From day one, Intuit has become synonymous with accounting and administration back-office technology for small businesses. It remains one of the most successful software companies not only founded by a computer, but from a brand focused entrepreneur."

Palmisano, who was elected to the channel Ala IT IT Hall of Fame, is recognized for his legacy as CEO of IBM from 2002 to 2011. During his tenure, Palmisano oversaw initial thrust of IBM in outsourcing services and cloud, and was responsible for the launch of the IBM Smarter Planet Initiative, which was an umbrella strategy for Big Data and Internet solutions things. In 2005, shocked the industry with the sale of IBM's personal computing business to Lenovo, which has grown to be one of the brands of PCs in the fastest growing in the IT channel. Palmisano has made another move rapidly, diversifying the portfolio of IBM to include the software and the purchase of dozens of companies towards the end of his mandate as CEO to solidify the move. Another important area of interest for Palmisano was loyalty channel IBM and continued emphasis on mutual success.

"Palmisano encouraged VARs, systems integrators and ISVs to constantly improve their value proposition and set of technical skills," said the selection committee. "Even today, IBM continues to aggressively support its channel, and has recently increased the resources we are putting forward to allow the growth of socio double digits."

Re-established by CompTIA in 2011, the IT Hall of Fame has a long history of recognizing both individuals who have made outstanding contributions or provided exceptional service to the IT channel; and those responsible for outstanding technology innovations.
